Karma is the Sanskrit word for action. The general idea of karma -good or bad- is defined by an individual’s actions, behaviors, and habits. In simple terms, if you do something contentious, then you will be punished with bad karma, whereas if you do something helpful, you will receive good karma.

Below are the 12 laws of karma that promote positive thoughts and employ self-reflection:

  1. The Great Law: “As you sow, so shall you reap.”
Whatever you put out into the Universe – good or bad- will come back to you. This law is also known as the “Law of Cause and Effect”.

  2. The Law of Creation: “What we desire comes through participation.”
It is your responsibility to ensure that your intentions and surroundings are beneficial to your desires.
  3. The Law of Humility: “Refusal to accept what is will still be what is.”
Acceptance is a key aspect. You cannot change something unless you learn to accept it.

  4. The Law of Growth: “Our own growth is above any circumstance.”
The only thing that you can control is yourself. It is you who must change and not the people and things you are surrounded by.

  5. The Law of Responsibility: “Our lives are our own doing, nothing else.”
You must take responsibility for what’s in your life. If you want to change it, you must change your frame of mind and your surroundings.

  6. The Law of Connection: “Everything in the Universe is connected, both large and small.”
Each step leads to the next step and so on. Your past, present and future are all connected.

  7. The Law of Focus: “One cannot direct attention beyond a single task.”
You cannot have negative thoughts or actions and expect to grow on a spiritual level. It is important to focus on spiritual values.

  8. The Law of Hospitality and Giving: “Demonstrating our selflessness shows true intentions.”
If you believe something to be true, you must demonstrate the truth. Selflessness is a virtue.

  9. The Law of Change: “History repeats itself unless changed.”
History will repeats itself until you learn the proper lessons you need to change your path towards righteousness.

  10. The Law of Here and Now: “The Present is all we have.”
You cannot change if you are constantly looking backwards to examine what was. Old thoughts and old habits will prevent you from moving forward.

  11. The Law of Patience and Reward: “Nothing of value is created without a patient mindset.”
True happiness comes from doing what you are supposed to be doing and knowing that your reward will come in its own time if you are patient and persistent.

  12. The Law of Significance and Inspiration: “The best reward is one that contributes to the Whole.”
Every contribution that you make is also a contribution to the Whole.
